Bhavan’s Smart Indian School celebrated the Ozone Day, a day of commemoration to instigate the protection of God’s own layer – Ozone, on 16th September in the school premises.September 16 was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the Ozone .The celebrations are also known as World Ozone Day.This year’s theme for the World Ozone Day, 2019 is taken as ‘32 Years and Healing’. The preservation of Ozone layer inspiring for better living and sustainable environment principled the day’s observance, celebration and campaigning.Arrayed in lush green, visible placards echoing the motto of the unique day and the hands that brought out the best to specialize the day prompted for oneness of thought in precision.
The kindergarten students of Smart Indian School celebrated Ozone day by having a special assembly that showcased the importance of saving ozone from depletion. Through this assembly, the thought of saving the Earth from harmful rays of the sun and thereby pledging not to litter the place and saying ‘NO’ to plastic were thoroughly drilled into their heads. After the assembly the children were allowed to have an activity depicting the importance of Ozone. The LKG students did a free hand drawing of a sun with a plant sapling whereas the UKG students made a collage with the theme of saving trees.
The department of Science executed several activities for all the students from grades 1 to 9. The Primary wing of the school engaged themselves in executing various activities which included song, slogans, bulletin board decoration and enactment. Grades 1 and 2 opened the day with their beautiful singing on Ozone and its protection. The smart students of grades 3 and 4,using their little minds, made slogans to celebrate the day with their catchy and persuading words of attraction. The winners were also selected for on the spot creativity. Impactful messages strewn around the bulletin board by grade 5 fascinated the onlookers. Oozy Ozone – a special character, impersonated by students of grade 5 emanated the speech on the destruction of layer by smokes and the alarming preservation to be done for posterity.
The senior wing culminated in several activities that had slogan recitation for grade 6, a short awareness program from the students of grades 7 and 8 to all the classes of senior wing. The students also had bulletin board decoration to honor the day’s motto. The winners of the day were finalized and due recognition was given during the mass assembly. This helped them to comprehend the nature’s cry for tranquil climate and smooth continuance of its rotation to supply nature’s bounty.
