Bhavans Smart Indian School, Psychology Department ably guided by the Physical education department, with the purpose of creating an awareness among children of grades 1 – V, to differentiate between good and bad, to stay healthy and become charismatic youth of tomorrow, organized a session on the topic ‘Good touch and Bad touch’ between 31st May to 7th June 2023 in the school campus. The students of grade 11 were the active propagators of the topic which parents and teachers agonize over to discuss with their children. The essence of the session was to ensure the children of the primary grades are taught that their body belongs to them, and they have a right to protect it. With this in mind, the Grade 11 students took the onus of visiting the primary classes and in the presence of their teacher with dolls, explained to the children how to identify the ‘No Touch’ areas, understand who are ‘Safe Adults’ and how to clearly communicate with parents about any bad experience. The children were also highlighted how to handle a bad touch by shouting ‘NO’, running away from the person and informing a safe adult about the same. The children understood the concept about safe/unsafe touch which was explained to them in a simplified manner followed by answering the queries to the best of their satisfaction.

Under the guidance of the Principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Sr.Vice Principal Ms. Anselma Tessy, Vice Principal Ms. Albin Daisy, School Counselor Ms. Anju Jacob and Head – P. Ed Ms. Deepa Antony, took up the task of spreading awareness to aid the young learners to take responsibility to sensitize and equip themselves, so that they can handle the ‘not so positive events’ in life in a better way. The session gained appreciation from parents.
