“Children see magic because they look for it.” – Christopher Moore
Our world is filled with colours. A very important part of learning during kindergarten is identification and recognition of colours.
Bhavans Smart Indian School and Jack and Jill Pre- school celebrated colours week on third week of April with great enthusiasm and excitement . Pre- kg and LKG Children celebrated colours days with primary colours and UKG Children celebrated with secondary colours. Children were all dressed up colorfully according to the colour days and were engaged in various activities like singing colour rhymes, painting, thumb printing, vegetable printing collage etc. Colour mixing experiments were demonstrated by the teacher and done by the children. The colour week concluded with a rainbow colour day.
The aim of celebrating colour days for tiny tots has several benefits like Colour days providing an opportunity for young children to learn about different colours in a fun and engaging way. They can learn the names of colours , the way to identify and understand the concept of mixing the colours to create new ones. Colour days encourage social interaction among children when they work on different activities. They learn to share materials, take turns, and cooperate with peers, which are important social skills for their development.
Overall, celebrating colour days for kindergarteners is not only fun but also plays an important role in children’s holistic development, encompassing cognitive, sensory, social, and emotional development.
