‘’Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.’’

Being literate is empowering. Understanding this UNESCO declared 8 September as Literacy Day in the year 1966 and since then International Literacy Day is celebrated annually around the world.

So, this year International Literacy Day was celebrated in Smart Indian School and Jack and Jill Pre School through a whole range of literacy tasks to celebrate reading and writing. Students participated enthusiastically in these activities and were able to improve their spellings.

Children also donated age-appropriate books to the class library. Importance of education was explained by the class principal. This discussion ended with the takeaway that every child deserves education and we as a society can contribute to make the world a better place for all learners.
