Bhavans Smart Indian School Kuwait, arranged a guidance session to recognize the significance of choosing the right stream that would eventually lead to the student’s perfect career as essential to a successful and fulfilling life on 7th October 2022 at 12.30p.m. in the zoom platform for parents and students of grades 9 and 10. The session was supported by the School Chairman Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Vice-Principal Mrs. Albin Daisy and it was coordinated by the School Counselor Ms. Anju Jacob. The resource person of the day was Ms. Seema Krishna, Senior Counselor from Score plus -The Princeton Review, United Arab Emirates.
Ms. Seema inspired the parents and the young minds with a detailed discussion on the ample of opportunities and career options they can choose from Science, Commerce and Humanities and emphasized grade 9 as the most accurate time to make career decisions. Moreover, the need to overrule the perception that career planning starts after students graduate from school and enter college was explained. In her presentation, Ms. Seema made clear the subject combinations students should keep in mind while opting a stream in grade 11 and she reiterated each stream as a gateway to different career and the choice made would eventually lead them to the right path and profession. Further the need to opt for a particular subject based on the student’s caliber was emphasized. In the second part of her presentation, Ms. Seema explained in detail the vital focus required for pursing Engineering, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Business, Arts and Design, Social Sciences/ Humanities, and the mandatory requirement of Mathematics as a subject for selective courses abroad. She further made clear identifying one’s strength and weakness as the key to success and the fact that each child is different from the other and if parents can identify the type of intelligence found dominant in their child, it would help them to shine well in their chosen field.
The expert clarified the queries raised by the parents to their best of satisfaction and assured to render any kind of future academic support and assistance for their career. In the closing thought Ms. Albin Daisy Vice-Principal, thanked the resource person Ms. Seema for her valuable time explaining in a befitting manner to the students and the parents the requirements while choosing a particular stream in their higher studies and for clarifying the queries instantly. She also added the academic information provided in the session would enhance student’s classroom discussions related to the career topic. As a token of appreciation and recognition, the resource person was honored with an e-certificate by the Vice-principal on behalf of the school management and a thankful note to the resource person and ever supporting parents by the School Counselor. The session concluded with an appreciation from parents and a request to conduct many such sessions in future on different related topics.
