Bhavans Smart Indian School, Kuwait organized its first virtual Onam celebration in a grand and traditional manner. It remains to be a time to remember the vast cultural heritage of the state and it is celebrated by the Keralites to mark the day with the traditional extravaganza starting from cultural performances to sumptuous fest. The virtual session was graced by the Chairman of Bhavans Middle East – Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Principal – Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Vice Principal – Ms. Albin Daisy and KG Supervisor – Ms. Rajni Menon. The teaching fraternity along with the students and parents joined this massive celebration.
The program started with the prayer song sung by Tia of 5 Gemini followed by the flowery perfume of verbal fragrance in the form of welcome address done by Mevin of grade 10. Memories always tell the tales of the bygone days and the moments turned relishing when the last year’s festive day was brought back in the form of a video. The sweet union of preparation and celebration of the yester year made everyone to reminisce the normalcy prevailed in the last year’s Onam. The day’s significance was beautifully presented by Christa of 3 Taurus. The marvelous performance spread colours of delight and gaiety by the dance performance rendered by Devika of 8 Aries. The father-daughter rendition staged by Irene of class 10 extended a lively music cheering the audience to the tune of the guitar. The stunning performance of the dance teachers representing the rich cultural side dwarfed the noise of the audience gliding them to keep their eyes fixed to the top-notch show. An amazing video that spoke on the central and inevitable characters of the festive day such as ‘Mahabali and Manga’ which was enacted by the children was shown to the cheering echoes from the viewers.
‘Onasadya’ – an astounding freak-out party drove the audience to literally feel the mouth-watering moments which the festive day terribly missed due to this virtual celebration. The teachers, with a great effort, prepared the diversified food from their homes to show the spirit of togetherness. Words of blessings and appreciation were extended by the school Principal on this auspicious day along with a soulful singing. It was then followed by the felicitation done by the teachers and the vote of thanks was given by Anika of grade 11. The celebration did really find a full-fletched time of enjoying the great success story of victory.
