Education is an essential factor in the ever more urgent global fight against climate change.”

To help the students to understand and tackle the consequences of Greenhouse Effects and to encourage them to change their behaviour and to adapt to the climate change, an online discussion and a sustainable art challenge were held at Smart Indian School in collaboration with the Climate Action Schools. The online discussion was hosted by The Indian Public School, Salem and the sustainable art challenge was hosted by Pathways World School. Many schools including Sharjah International Private School, Center for Applied Physics and Science, Syrian Country, Symbiosis International School, Pune, Mingdao High School, Taiwan participated in the sustainable art challenge.

Grade 5 students participated in the discussion. Various activities such as slogan writing, poster making and power point presentation were also conducted during this time. Students spoke about the causes and effects of greenhouse effects and climate change and also about the solution for climate change. A research on the climate action project of Kuwait government was conducted by these students and a discussion on the same was done during this time.

Sustainable Art Challenge aimed at environmental consciousness and also conservation of resources. This motivated the students to use eco-friendly materials, upcycled items and biodegradable products to showcase their creations which reduced the demand for new resources and minimizing waste.

This helped the students to improve their understanding of climate change and also empowered them to become agents of change for climate action in their school community and beyond. It also helped them to follow sustainable practices that help to reduce waste generation.
