World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on 16th October, people from all around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger for the lifetime.

World Food Day 2019 aimed at providing healthy diets for a zero hunger world. World Food Day is celebrated to create awareness among masses about food security. United Nations’ (UN) Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) released data that says approximately one in nine people around the world suffer from hunger. Events are organized in over 130 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar.

The twinkling tiny toys of kindergarten in Smart Indian School also celebrated the “World Food Day” on 16th October. A colourful and informative assembly was held on that significant day. The assembly taught them the importance of food and eating habits. The most eye-catching part of the assembly was the movie on a small child who begged for food and was shied away for it. The kids were found engrossed in the movie deciding not to waste food anymore. In the end, the kids took a pledge to not waste food and to eat healthy food, leaving out the junks. Back in the class, children had done an activity moulding the clay, making one of their most favourite healthy fruits or vegetables and a junk food as a take away card.
