“An equation means to me nothing unless it expresses a thought of God.”- Sri. Srinivasa Ramanujan

As a mark of respect to the great Indian Mathematician, Smart Indian School celebrated National Mathematics Day on 22nd December 2021, honouring the birth anniversary of the Mathematical genius Sri. Srinivasa Ramanujan – The man who knew infinity.

For grades, one to five an informative video about Ramanujan’s life history and his important contributions to the field of Mathematics was presented by Rayan Rojy from 3 Aries and Mohammed Haateem from 4 Virgo. One of Ramanujan’s most interesting creations, his super magic square was explained by teachers and activity was conducted by asking children to create their magic squares using their date of birth.

Students of grades six to eleven celebrated the day with a power-packed session with facts, speeches, and skits in the virtual auditorium.

Mr Mahesh Iyer, Principal appreciated the Department of Mathematics and all the students who had put in their efforts to make this day a grand success.

The day brought awareness amongst the children about the immense contribution made by the Indian mathematician Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan and the fact that mathematics is not only about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about UNDERSTANDING.
