The National Mathematics Day was established on December 22, 2020, by the Honorable Director, National Assessment and Advisory Council (NAAC). It was supported by the government and was celebrated for the very first time in the country. In 2012, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh unveiled the 125th anniversary celebrations of the birth of Indian mathematical genius, Srinivasa Ramanujan.

To celebrate the birthday of Sriramanath, Smart Indian School conducted a week-long program entitled ‘Srinivasa Ramanujan’s Week’ from Dec.18 to 22. The program featured various activities that were designed to introduce students to mathematics. Seven interesting activities were conducted for the children by Mr. Victor Pushparaj and Ms. Reni George who were the event coordinators. The guests invited to encourage the students were the SIS Principal, Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Senior and Middle wing Academic Coordinator Mr.Santhosh along with the Junior wing Academic Coordinator Ms. Thushara.

The students were introduced to the concept of Mathematics by the school’s teachers, who discussed the importance of the subject in their daily lives. Following the presentation, the students participated in various activities related to this subject, such as Math Genius, Rubik’s cube challenge, and Digital poster making.

During the week, students were able to solve various math puzzles, participate in debates about the subject, and create their own mathematical-inspired artworks. The event was a great success, as it reminded everyone about the importance of Math and how it can be used in real-world applications.

The school then held a prize-giving ceremony to recognize the students who performed well in the various activities. It showed that the event had been a huge success, as it made everyone realize how important Math is.
