Marvelous Mother’s Day at Bhavan’s SIS

It is said, “God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.” Mother’s Day is a special day, dedicated to all mothers. It is celebrated across the globe on the second Sunday in the month of May. The present-day celebration of Mother’s Day began in the year 1908 when Anna Jarvis organized a memorial for her mother, Anna Jarvis who used to take care of the soldiers wounded in the American Civil war. Anna began the task of getting support for the celebration of Mother’s Day in 1905 after her mother died the same year. She wanted to honor all the mothers of the world who have done a lot for their family and society. It is a day which makes people remember the importance and significance of mothers in their lives and is observed as a day to give special emphasis to the motherly figures around the world. Mothers hold a special place in the hearts of children.

The bubbling students of Bhavan’s Smart Indian School were given an opportunity to show appreciation for their mother. The Kindergarteners started off the day with an interactive session where the teachers informed and briefed the kids on the importance of Mother’s Day. The kids were encouraged to share a few words on their mother. The session instilled in the young minds a feeling of love and respect for their mother. They were emotionally charged for the occasion. This session was then followed by a class activity where the children made beautiful cards. The cards were shaped in the form of their two palms held together to make a heart depicting the message of love. After the activity, kindergartners gathered in front of the bulletin board, decorated as per the day’s theme, and had their photos clicked.

The vibrant celebration continued in the Primary wing too where the students of grades 1 to 5 were given the task of creating beautiful cards for their mothers. The preparation to create handmade cards for their beloved mother and the level of creativity reflected during the making of the cards that truly demonstrated the unconditional love. Three best cards from each class were selected and awarded.

A special segment was assigned to the students of grades 6 to 10 under the title ‘Mummy and Me’. The students were asked to video shoot  the endearing experiences and close affinity they shared with their mother. The videos were heart-touching and created a special impact on the teachers who watched it. A huge amount of selfless love, sacrifice and devotion was evident in their interaction. The best videos were selected and awarded in each class.

The innovative students were very eager, happy and sparkling with energy throughout the day and they looked forward to going home to give their mother the card made by them. The day thus came to a close by remembering all the mothers out there in the world.
