The elected students of Bhavans Smart Indian School, Kuwait took up the additional onus as Supreme Council Members for the academic year 2021-2022 in the presence of the Chief Guest Ms. Smita Patil IFS, First Secretary to The Honorable Ambassador of India to Kuwait and the Deputy Chief of the Mission at the Embassy.

The School Supreme Council Members for the academic year 2021-22 were sworn in on June 12, 2021. Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the Principal of Smart Indian School, administered the oath of office. The investiture ceremony began virtually on Saturday 12 June 2021 at 10 a.m. on the Bhavans Kuwait Zoom Auditorium.

The BSS cadet Nifansa Arul presented the Guard of Honor to the Chief Guest Ms. Smita Patil IFS and a slow march was done by the newly elected council members with their heads held high and hearts so strong. One-minute silent prayer was observed to pay tribute to those who lost their lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kuwait National Anthem, the Holy Quran recital and Bhavans Anthem were rendered by the student community virtually.

Shri N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, and Smt. Sudha Ramachandran Menon lit the virtual lamp and inaugurated the function graciously.

The parents of the respective office bearers conferred the elected elects and honored them with sachets. All the Supreme Council Members namely Abdul Hadi – Head Boy, Neha Kurian – Head Girl, Hannuk – Junior Head Boy, Jasriya Abdulla Aboobacker – Junior Head Girl, Aravind Abhilash – Deputy Head Boy, Devika Krishnakumar – Deputy Head Girl, Zainab Mohsin – Cultural Secretary, Swastik Saha – Deputy Cultural Secretary Boy, Janet George – Deputy Cultural Secretary Girl, Arya Vichithran Nair- Public Relations Officer, Esther Susan Subi – Deputy Public Relations Officer, Ryan Joseph – Student Editor, Mathew James – Deputy Student Editor, Smriti Mariam Stanley – Sports Captain, Kevin Manoj – Deputy Sports Captain Boy, Nifansa Arul Dharmaraj, Deputy Sports Captain Girl,  Alia Syed – Captain of Sanskriti House, Joanna Reji – Captain of Satya House, Febin Saneesh – Captain of Seva House, Arjun Warren – Captain of Tapas House, Joanna Roji – Vice-Captain of Sanskriti House, Adhnan Mustafa – Vice-Captain of Satya House, Aditi Santhosh – Vice-Captain of Seva House, Evana Rakesh Kappen – Vice-Captain of Tapas House, Pranav Menon – Junior Captain of Sanskriti House, Deion Albert- Junior Captain of Satya House, Shiham Ali Khan- Junior Captain of Seva House,  Aventhini Regan – Junior Captain of Tapas House, along with the Principal took the oath. The head boy and head girl delivered the speech of acceptance to the school. Thus, all the conferral norms were passed on to the new set of elects.

Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran-Director Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Mahesh Iyer-the Principal of Smart Indian School, Principals and Vice-Principals of Bhavans Middle East Schools, Ms. Albin Daisy-the Vice-Principal of SIS and Ms. Rajni Menon-KG supervisor of SIS were present.

In her speech, Chief Guest Ms. Smita Patil lauded the efforts of the students to move forward and succeed in the face of changing circumstances. She reminded that the Embassy and the Indian community in Kuwait are closely watching the contribution of Bhavans Smart Indian School to these expectations.

Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran-Director Bhavans Middle East, urged the student community to respond to life in a positive and value-based way. She reminded students to believe in themselves and to react positively to the change.

 The video of the Senior Leadership Team across the Bhavans Middle East who sent messages of congratulations to the Supreme Council members added colour to the function.

Jasim Abdulla Aboobacker from 10 Aries, welcomed the gathering to this Investiture Ceremony 2021-22 and Essa Manoj Mathew from grade 10 Taurus, proposed the vote of thanks. Students from grade 10, Tanish Mahendra, Sneha Mary Joe and Shambhavi Durgesh were the anchors who did their job diligently.

A large audience of students, teachers and parents watched this solemn event live on school Facebook Page and encouraged the newly elected Supreme Council Members. The event finally ended with singing of the Indian National Anthem with reverence and respect to the mother land.
