“All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and hence should be undertaken with painstaking excellence”

To celebrate the painstaking effort of the labour force that work tirelessly, the International Worker’s Day also called as May Day or Labour Day, was celebrated at Smart Indian School on 2nd May 2021 with great zeal. Labour Day is a reminder for us that laborers are the real architects of our society and they deserve their due respect. We have always believed that it is small acts of kindness that count and we attempt to inculcate that same virtue in our children.

The primary wing celebrated the Labour Day by making ‘Thank You’ cards. The teachers briefed the children about Labour Day and its importance. Children expressed gratitude by giving self-made cards to their maids at home. The young ones were overwhelmed by this act of thankfulness and enjoyed the day.

Grades six to eight had ‘Greeting Card Preparation’ competition with a theme “dignity of labour”. Children also had discussion on no work is disrespectful and we must acknowledge and celebrate every profession. Starting from a sweeper to a farmer, every business helps us in some way or the other and we must express our gratitude to those who work so hard to give us the facilities we need.

Grades nine to eleven commemorated it by having ‘Slogan Writing Competition’ to honour the dedication and contribution of the working community to the growth of each nation. They demonstrated that we must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives. Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude.

The day thus impressed us on the vitality to fight for our rights. It was an important event that we celebrated humbly and with a cheerful heart.

Without labour nothing prospers.
