Students and parents of Bhavans Smart Indian School, Kuwait tucked into their Hybrid Annual Sports Meet 2021 with gusto. It was celebrated on Saturday, 20 November 2021, with the theme ‘Physical Fitness for All’, completely different way of encouraging students and parents to get fit. This sports meet day was marked by innovation and a gathering of talents.

The celebration of innovation began with the national anthem of Kuwait. Afterwards, the Principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer hoisted the flag and saluted the school supreme council  the Bhavans Service Scheme Team, along with the representatives of the students marching past him.

The School Sports Captain Ms. Smriti Mariam Stanley lighted the torch and the  Deputy Captain Ms. Nifansa Arul Dharmaraj administered the oath of office to the athletes.

Abdul Hadi, the Head Boy for the academic year 2021-22 offered a reverential welcome note to the honorable Chief Guest for the day Mr. Sachin Roby – Indian International Athlete,  Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran Menon, the Vice-Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran, the Director of Bhavans Middle East, Ms. Divya Rajesh Ramachandran, the principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the Vice Principal Ms. Albin Daisy, K.G Supervisor Ms. Rajni Menon, HoDs, teachers, students, parents and grand parents to the hybrid virtual sports meet-2021.

In his speech, the Chairman applauded all the athletes who participated in the sports events and the physical education teachers who worked hard to prepare the Hybrid Annual Sports Meet.

In his speech, Principal Mahesh Iyer reminded everyone that the idea behind Sports Day is not just  a success but also co-operation which should be the hallmark in schools so that many more  students become such excellent leaders.

The Hybrid Annual Sports event consisting of three categories did prove the expression of the students’ athletic ability and fitness. There were 19 activities in total, out of which 13 events for students, two events for teachers, two events for parents and two for grand parents.  ‘Free hand drill display’ by grades 1 and 2 students and ‘Aerobics’ by grades 3 and 4 students stole the show.

Subsequently, fierce fitness competitions at the sub-junior, junior, and senior levels thrilled the audience. The same enthusiasm was  shown by the students on the ground as on the virtual platform which added to the mat of the competition. The fitness challenge of the parents and  teachers can be said to be a specialty of the Smart Indian School.

 Thus Smart Indian School’s Hybrid Annual Sports Championship-2021 became a stage of difference. All the winners were announced and honoured with certificates immediately while the on campus events winners received medals instantly during the victory ceremony.

Eventually, the event turned into a carnival when the parents started their fitness activities one by one. The audience  truly witnessed the participant’s spirit, endurance and strength during the events. A sense of good sportsmanship by the students were truly amazing.

The Principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer conducted the trophy presentation and declared Tapas House as the titleholder of this academic year 2021-22. The  Overall Champions Trophy was presented to the house captain Master Arjun Warren of Grade 8 Taurus.

The Chief Guest of the day was full of surprises at the proceedings of the celebration, and he motivated all the children to excel not only in academics but also in sports.

P.E. Department of Bhavans Smart Indian School always strives to keep all the students mentally and physically fit and it was very evident that despite this pandemic situation Smart Indian School never failed to conduct such physical activities through these virtual times, accordingly, imparting the knowledge of discipline, respect, friendship, leadership, resilience, teamwork and overcoming adversity.

The Principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Vice Principal Albin Daisy, Head Boy Master Abdul Hadi, Sports Captain Ms. Smriti Mariam Stanley, and P.E HoD Mr. Murugaiyan led the event. The coordination of the various departments made the events run smoothly without interruption.

The Principal Mr. Mahesh Iyer appreciated all the participants for their wonderful participation. The sports captain Ms. Smriti Mariam Stanley of Grade XI ended the event with a gratitude address followed by the Indian National Anthem. Sports is one of the most important aspects in one’s life. It keeps us Fit and Healthy.
